If you want to make your own tag here are some ideas on how to do it inexpensively.
Laminated Tags For only a dollar or two most Office Max or other office supply stores will do a laminated sheet. Simply place a few printed (or written) tag numbers on the laminated sheet then cut them out. The drawback to this is that you have to leave some of the laminated area there and it could be a little larger of a tag.
Shrinky Dinks These are a great solution! Simply go out to the store and get a refill pack of shrinky dinks as well as some clear nail polish or spray lacquer. Then, simply put the shrinky dink refill in your printer! Print whatever you want then punch a hole in it (before shrinking) to create your own tag. After it comes out, spray the print side with lacquer or nail polish to seal it up! Now you should have a rugged and somewhat waterproof tag!
Cloth Tags These are inexpensive and also have the ability to be sewn into a plush toy. Simply take a laundry marker, mark the cloth tag then attach it. Very low tech but it works great!
Key Tags Most retail stores sell key chains where you can write on the tag itself. These also make great tags.
